Windstorm Causes Havoc In Germany and The Netherlands

Parts of Europe have been dealing with sustained winds of up to 140km/hr (the equivalent of a category 1 hurricane).

Here we see a plane attempting to land at Dusseldorf Airport in Germany. You know those flights where passengers applaud when the plane lands? This is one of those times where the applause is much deserved:

That was in 110km/hr winds. What happens when you bump it up to 140km/hr? Let’s see what happened in the Netherlands:

This just goes to show you that there doesn’t need to be a tornado or hurricane for damaging winds to occur. Our thoughts are with those affected.
