Two Words That May Make You Quit Eating Junk Food Forever…But Probably Not
Since we’re a little more than month into 2018, many people are looking back and checking their progress on their New Year’s resolutions. The most common one is usually to eat healthy. If you’re a junk food and candy connoisseur like me, eating healthy and reducing your candy intake is easier said than done. The following bit of information might make it a lot easier.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has general guidelines that consider food “safe” until it reaches a certain level of various contaminants. The most glaring one comes in the guideline for chocolate, which states that manufacturers can’t allow more than 1/100 of a gram of rodent hair in chocolate. That’s not a typo. “Rodent hair” is acceptable…although it’s an extremely small amount.
The important thing to remember is that 1/100 of a gram isn’t an average amount found, but it’s a maximum allowable amount. Most chocolate won’t have any rodent hair at all…which is the amount that I prefer.
Will this information help you cut back on your intake of sweets? For me……no. Not in the slightest. Chocolate is amazing and you should keep eating it. Regardless, I thought I should pass along this ‘food for thought’.
