Ashley Monroe Diagnosed With Blood Cancer
Ashley Monroe has been diagnosed with a rare form of blood cancer, and she shared the news with fans on Instagram on Tuesday, July 13th along with several pictures of her with her husband, three-year-old son and her friends.
Ashley revealed that she will begin chemotherapy on Wednesday, July 14th.
The 34-year-old Pistol Annies member was diagnosed with Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia (WM), a type of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma also known as lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma.
In the social media post, Ashley explained that her bloodwork done a few months ago revealed that she was very anemic. After further testing, including a bone marrow biopsy, she was properly diagnosed with the rare cancer.
Ashley put a positive spin on the situation writing,
“I’m thankful there IS a treatment that actually works to fight what is causing harm to my body. THANKFUL for friends and family who have gathered around me praying and sending flowers and letting me lean on them during this super weird chapter of my life.” She added that she is “Thankful for my angel son,” and that she is “fighting” for son Dalton “the most.”
