Brad Paisley On Country Music Trailblazer Charley Pride
Brad Paisley was recently asked to share his thoughts on Black History Month, and it brought up memories of his longtime friend, Charley Pride.
“I opened for him in my hometown in West Virginia and kept in touch and stayed friends. I think about the trail he blazed for Darius [Rucker], Jimmie Allen, and Mickey Guyton. In our format, I’m aware of what it’s like for those artists to break in. It’s been wonderful to watch them make great music and be welcomed with open arms. And I think back to Charley a lot, especially now that he’s gone.”
