Former MLB Pitcher Transitions To Country Music
Former Major League Baseball pitcher Adam Wainwright is now a country musician.
He retired last year after 18 seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals and just released his debut album last month called “Hey Y’all” with 13 original songs.
So far things have been going really well for Adam. He played the Grand Ole Opry in March, opened for Zac Brown Band last month, and has a show with Travis Tritt this summer.
He says he fell in love with country music when he was nine after his brother put “The Thunder Rolls” by Garth Brooks on a mixtape that he listened to over and over.
It’s one of the songs he mentions on a track called “A Song Will Bring You Back”. It also name-drops “Dixieland Delight” by Alabama and “Neon Moon” by Brooks & Dunn.
Adam says he’s not sad to leave baseball, he’s just grateful he could play as long as he did, and is “excited about these new chapters in life.”
