Chris Stapleton On What Counts As “County Music” In 2024
What counts as REAL “Country” music in 2024?
Chris Stapleton weighed in on the debate on Lance Armstrong’s podcast, and said a lot of people forget it’s NEVER really been just one thing, there’s always been a “broad spectrum” of music living under the Country banner.
He said if you go back through the decades, there’s always been “a pop side,” “something a little grittier,” and stuff that “meets in the middle.” So, he doesn’t get caught up in the debate. It’s just “different strokes for different folks.”
He noted that even a lot of his own stuff doesn’t fit the cookie-cutter definition of what Country music is, or was.
