Riley Green Swears He Won’t Do A Shoey In Australia
Riley Green is heading to Australia this week for two tour dates in Brisbane, one in Sydney and one in Melbourne.
This will be Riley’s first trip to Australia, and he was asked if he plans on participating in a big tradition down under known as a “shoey,” where you shotgun a beer out of someone’s shoe or boot.
“I’ve sworn that I wouldn’t do a shoey. Now that being said, if we go down there and the crowd’s rowdy and we’re havin’ a good time, who knows. I’ve done things I’ve swore I wouldn’t several times before. I’ve never been to Australia. I knew we sold out one of the shows like very quickly, so we added another one. And we’re doing several cities down there, so I’m excited about going. I know there’s a lot of country music fans there. But you know, I’ve been surprised in such a good way everywhere I’ve been the last few years. We did Hyde Park in London. The biggest country music show they’ve ever had there was my first show in London, in the UK. So, it’s crazy to see these things happening in real time, how much this is really growing. And Australia, it sounds like it’d kinda be my place. You know, I think I’ll wanna walk about down there, and hopefully can go back soon.”
