Jelly Roll Pays Tribute To Toby Keith On New Year’s Eve
During Jelly Roll’s performance as part of Nashville’s Big Bash New Year’s Eve special on Tuesday, December 31, the singer paid tribute to Toby Keith by affectionately covering the late country superstar’s 1993 debut single, “Should’ve Been a Cowboy.”
The cover was part of Jelly’s five-song set that included renditions of his own hits, “I Am Not Okay,” “Need a Favor,” “Son of a Sinner,” and “Liar.”
Before delivering his emotional version of “Should’ve Been a Cowboy,” Jelly introduced the track , saying…
“I would like to dedicate this next song to one of the greatest country music superstars that ever lived. In his memory, God rest your soul Big Dog Daddy, Toby Keith baby!”
Jelly has performed “Cowboy” live many times, including with T-Pain at the Stagecoach Festival in April.
The duo also released a recording of their collaboration for Amazon Music, with all proceeds benefitting the Toby Keith Foundation.
