“Tennessee Orange” Changed Everything For Megan Moroney
Megan Moroney’s career kicked off with a football song that hit at just the right time.
Her debut single, “Tennessee Orange,” became her first #1 in 2022 after going viral on TikTok.
The song was the story of a diehard Georgia Bulldogs fan who falls for a Tennessee Volunteers fan.
Megan recently explained how the song came to life.
When she was still an independent artist, she was approached by Spotify to participate in their Fresh Finds program.
They asked her to bring an unfinished song they could release during football season. She figured her Georgia versus Tennessee anthem would fit perfectly. And she was right.
“I released it just because Spotify asked me for a song . . . And then it changed everything.”
What started as one football song has now evolved into sold-out headlining tours, two very successful albums, and an ACM Award for New Female Artist of the Year. Not too bad.
