This Year’s Grammy Nominees: A Country Singer Makes HISTORY!
This year’s Grammy nominees were announced yesterday,
MICKEY GUYTON made history yesterday when her song “Black Like Me” picked up a Grammy nomination for Best Country Solo Performance. It’s the first time a black female solo artist has ever been nominated in a country category.
Of the 20 artists receiving nominations, 14 of them have a woman up for the coveted award. And in the Country Album of the Year category, all five were made by women.
Ingrid Andress, Lady Like – she is actually up for 3 awards:
Best New Artist, Best Country Song for “More Hearts Than Mine”, and Best Country Album for “Lady Like”. She said, “This cannot be real. Are you kidding me? I’m screaming. I will never forget this feeling.”
